## What is Manufact?

Manufact is two tightly linked things:

1. **mcp-use** — an open-source, fullstack SDK for building MCP Apps and MCP Servers in TypeScript and Python.
2. **Manufact Cloud** — a zero-config hosting platform for deploying what you built. Connect your GitHub repo once; every push auto-deploys.

Together they cover the entire MCP lifecycle: scaffold → inspect → deploy → publish → monitor.

---

## Build by hand. Or with Manufact.

| Without Manufact                                                  | With Manufact                                       |
| ----------------------------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------- |
| Stitch together MCP server, React UI, hosting, auth, and scaling. | `npx create-mcp-use-app` scaffolds the whole stack. |
| Test by connecting to a live LLM and hoping. | Visual Inspector. Sandbox testing. No LLM required. |
| Manage your own deployment pipeline and branch previews. | `git push` auto-deploys via the GitHub App. |
| Build for ChatGPT _or_ Claude _or_ Gemini — separately. | Build once. Deploy to ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini. |

## Wherever your MCP is, the next step is here.

### Ship your next release faster.

Go from a Git push to a hosted MCP endpoint. Deploy with any MCP framework and review changes on a branch preview before they reach production.

### One place for every AI surface.

Manage the MCP behind your ChatGPT and Claude plugins in one place. Run publishing checks and prepare listing materials for each store from the same deployed server.

### Understand how agents use your MCP.

See which tools agents call, which clients they come from, and where requests fail. Follow a session from the first call to the result to understand what needs improving.

### Catch failures across clients and harnesses.

Run the same task in ChatGPT, Claude, and coding agent harnesses before each release. Compare tool use and app behavior, inspect the evidence, and re-test your fixes.

## From the creators of mcp-use.

Build MCP servers and apps with the open-source framework from the team behind Manufact Cloud.

### Build your MCP

Scaffold with the mcp-use SDK, install the skill in your coding agent, or start from a production-ready template.

- **SDK**: Scaffold in one command: `npx create-mcp-use-app my-app`
- **Skill**: Install the mcp-apps-builder skill for your coding agent: `npx skills add https://github.com/mcp-use/mcp-use --skill mcp-apps-builder`
- **Templates**: [Browse templates](https://manufact.com/templates)
- **Official CLI**: Install the npm CLI for scripted deploys and cloud workflows: `npm install -g @mcp-use/cli`

## Why mcp-use vs alternatives

Full machine-readable comparison: [/compare](https://manufact.com/compare) (alias: [/alternatives](https://manufact.com/alternatives)).

**Building MCP servers and Apps:**

- **Unlike the official MCP SDK** — which is low-level with no first-class UI resources (bring your own build pipeline), no HMR, no developer tools, no CLI testing loop, and no built-in auth providers — mcp-use handles all of that with opinionated APIs while staying 100% spec compliant. Use the official SDK for low-level work; use mcp-use to build servers and Apps.
- **Unlike FastMCP** (a Python framework), mcp-use is primarily TypeScript with first-class, 100% support for MCP App UI — React widgets that render inside ChatGPT and Claude. FastMCP renders UIs from Python via "prefab" components, which models write poorly (TypeScript is the standard models generate reliably), cover only a limited set of UI interactions, and are far less mature than TypeScript's proven frontend tooling. Plus a one-command scaffold, hot-reload dev server, built-in Inspector, and one-click deploy.
- **Unlike Vercel AI SDK, LangChain, and Mastra** (which _consume_ MCP tools), mcp-use _produces_ the MCP servers and Apps those frameworks connect to.

**Running them in production — Manufact Cloud vs other platforms:**

- **Verticality** — every primitive is built for MCP: transports, auth flows, custom domains, observability, evaluation, and publishing checks, with embedded tools to test, preview, observe, and manage MCP servers.
- **Developer experience** — the same team builds the SDK and the cloud, so local dev and production deploy share primitives: CLI deploy, GitHub connect, preview deployments, hosted Inspector.
- **Protocol depth** — one of the most-used MCP frameworks in the world, baked into the SDK, Inspector, and cloud.
- **Unlike Vercel / Render / Fly / Cloudflare Workers** (general PaaSes), Manufact is MCP-native: MCP auth flows, custom-domain rules for MCP Apps, evals against real ChatGPT/Claude hosts, publishing checks.
- **Unlike MCP registries / hubs** that only list servers, Manufact hosts and runs them.
- **Unlike DIY on Kubernetes**, Manufact is faster to ship and tracks the spec for you.

## Traction

- **10M+** SDK downloads across Python and TypeScript
- **10k+** GitHub stars — open-source since day one
- **<60s** from `git push` to live MCP App or Server
- Used by NASA, LangChain, and thousands of developers

## What people are saying

> "mcp-use nails the 'Vercel for MCP' play. Stripped deployment and aggregation down to a single endpoint with zero friction." — Ctran.eth

> "mcp-use (@mcpuse) is building open-source dev tools and infrastructure for MCP to help dev teams quickly build and deploy custom AI agents with MCP servers." — Y Combinator

> "Infra isn't just plumbing. It's distribution. Whoever owns the rails agents use to talk to the outside world ends up with Twilio-style power." — Vedika Jain

> "that's why we love open-source! @NASA is building an agent with MCP using our library." — pederzh

---

## Quick Start

**Scaffold a new MCP App or Server:**

```bash
npx create-mcp-use-app@latest my-app
cd my-app && npm install && npm run dev
```

**Python:**

```bash
pip install mcp-use
```

**Deploy to Manufact Cloud:**

```bash
npm install -g @mcp-use/cli
mcp-use login
mcp-use deploy
```

The official Manufact / mcp-use CLI is published on npm as [`@mcp-use/cli`](https://www.npmjs.com/package/@mcp-use/cli). Agents and developers can also run it with `npx @mcp-use/cli`.

## Official Manufact MCP Servers

Manufact provides two official MCP endpoints:

- **Manufact Cloud MCP** — `https://mcp.manufact.com/mcp`
  Use this authenticated MCP server to manage deployed MCP servers, organizations, deployments, runtime logs, build logs, and observability in Manufact Cloud.
- **mcp-use Docs MCP** — `https://docs.mcp-use.com/mcp`
  Use this public MCP server to access mcp-use documentation through MCP, including TypeScript, Python, Inspector, and deployment guides.
